Daily Review Wins Six State Awards In Contest

The Daily Review earned six awards in a California statewide contest, the most of any daily newspaper. Floyd L. Sparks received two honors for The Argus of Fremont and Newark, and two for the Tri-Valley Herald serving the Livermore Valley. Awards highlighted include best news photo for all sizes, best local use of color printing, and top placements in editorials, typography, family interest, and newspaper promotion. The Herald, Argus, and Review divisions share top honors at the 83rd annual publishers association meeting.

Resignation of Fair Housing Director Over Racial Remarks
