Prisoners of war arrive in good condition at Clark Base
A total of 143 released POWs from North and South Vietnam arrived at Clark Air Base in the Philippines in good health. They were examined by more than 60 doctors, with 118 from Hanoi arriving first aboard three US airlift planes and 26 from Saigon later. POW RELEASE BRINGS JOY TO FAMILIES AT HOME
Families struggled for words as loved ones returned from confinement as prisoners of war. In North Vietnam some reports described elation while others offered no comment on today’s POW release. Twenty nine Californians were among the first group of six Americans flown from Ilanoi to Clark Air Base in the Philippines aboard three jet transports.
