Navy Jet Crash in Alameda Leaves at Least Eight Dead

An AP report from Alameda California describes a Navy F8 Corsair crash into the Tahne apartments killing eight and possibly ten. Eyewitness Lt Longquist said the fireball resembled a shooting star and appeared completely out of control before impact. Navy investigators found no clear evidence of mechanical or human error.

Police officer first on scene of city jet crash disaster

Ronald Harrison, an Ai a Meda policeman and Livers more Valley resident, arrived at a deadly incident when a U S Navy A 7 Corsair struck the Tahoe Apartments complex. He described flames, collapsing buildings, and firefighters arriving as bystanders were injured. Harrison aided victims and called in a disaster unit as the scene stretched across the neighborhood.

Starvation study at South San Francisco High School

Thirty high school students endured a four day period eating only one cup of rice, half a cup of spinach, and a cup of powdered milk daily, about 266 calories per person, to illustrate how the world shares limited food. After ending Friday night, they craved regular meals and reported dizziness irritability and memory lapses during the project led by biology teacher Robert Jacobs.
