Dunn Voices Public Aid for Education to Back Bond Plan

Oakland supervisor Francis Dunn urged a public education campaign to back a multi million dollar county building bond. The plan aims to relieve costly renting and provide adequate county facilities, with support from the Taxpayers’ association and Chamber of Commerce seen as crucial. The board’s building committee outlined options including a four story welfare building addition and a Hall of Records project, with significant state and federal cost-sharing anticipated. Meanwhile, two Hayward area women were arrested in a prostitution raid at an Ashland trailer court cabin, and a cab driver was taken into custody as an alleged accomplice. The operation followed an undercover decoy setup and yielded little evidence of marked currency.
