Robert Crawford, superintendent of the Oakland recreation department, will headline the Hayward Area Recreation District meeting in Castro Valley. Dr Clarence Reidenbagh will speak on "The Seriousness of Recreation" as officers are installed for 1950 with Carol Pulcifer as president and Elmer Nelson as vice president among new directors from Oakland Albany Berkeley and Martinez.

The group endorsed a Welcome Wagon service and 27 members met at a breakfast to map a business promotion campaign, E C Parks chairing the promotion committee.
Cub Den Volari’s Den 1 invited for a Coast Guard cutter visit on February 9 at 1 p.m. Pictures will be taken before departure from their den mother’s home and during the trip. Mrs Agnes Scoggins and Bob Ryall will help supervise. Ashlane Dads Club sponsors the den.
A move to abolish the RFC gains momentum amid a Senate banking committee clash over President Truman's nomination of Mary A. McDonald to lead the agency. The committee sent a three member subcommittee to discuss all phases of the RFC problem with the president and plans a Senate showdown on funding and action. Supporters seek an early vote before the committee acts, with three members pressing for a vote.
