In New York State Supreme Court Judge Irving L. Levy dismissed the habeas corpus complaint by Andrei Pertambeanu alleging grandmother Katherine Benedict and her daughter Helma Porumbeanu hid his wife and child. Benedict testified she sought only to protect her granddaughter, while Porumbeanu remains in hiding on Skiten Island with her daughter. A separate separation suit and an affair claim were noted, with a divorce pending since 1958 and a Paris return of the alleged teen romance.
Vandals pierced two renowned works at the McNay Art Institute in San Antonio with tacks. Carlyle Slantey and Marvin Fritcher produced identical photos and Fritcher quickly sought an annulment while Stanley filed for divorce after reporting the discovery in Superior Court.
