A Kansas City woman was trapped for 43 minutes in a wrecked automobile after a runaway ride Tuesday night. Firefighters police and bystanders assisted as gasoline leaked, creating a fire hazard. Two others escaped uninjured as the car stopped on a lawn at the bottom of a hill. Mrs Harrison was wedged with her left leg behind the front seat. Alma Dean Stroud and Ruby Stroud were en route to a lodge meeting and had stopped to pick up tires. Harrison was hospitalized along with the others.
Mrs. Almeda Vickers drove into a five-foot construction trench, landing upside down. Slightly injured she could not climb the steep sides and remained trapped until a passerby shouted for help hours later, prompting aid from responders.
Leonard O Redden Hartford City principal shot two women teachers and then killed himself after believing rumors about a romance with Harriet Robson. The 41 year old veteran and Sunday school superintendent had shown quiet, gentle demeanor but had suffered depression since last spring. Police found his car in a thicket seven miles away with books and report cards in the back as he ended the rampage.
In Boston Texas AP report a juvenile girl Frances Marie Kelley was found delinquent for a fatal shooting that killed Steve Fields nine. The jury recommended probation under the father or another guardian and a February 15 hearing was set by Dist. Judge Robert Vance. The defendant said she did not intend to kill anyone just to scare the boys away.
