Judge rules in favor of union in Hayward case
A superior court judge ruled that an arbitrator’s decision on an agency shop clause in a city labor contract binds city officials. Judge Linnel Wilson notified Hayward officials that the decision is binding and not merely advisory, as the city had argued. The clause requires non union employees to pay Local 380 of the Public Employees Union the equivalent of dues or risk job loss. Assistant City Atty.
