The Alameda County Board discussed raising monthly foster home payments to recruit and retain foster parents. A Santa Clara plan paying from 74 to 112 dollars, with San Francisco up to 125, is favored. Alameda now averages 20 dollars, costing 167,472 yearly to implement. If approved, next year’s budget would rise by 251.28 dollars. A follow-up session is set for January 19 to decide on a uniform policy across Bay Area counties.
