How to Care for That Lovely New Blooming Plant
DOHOTHY BAYLISS advises proper handling of Christmas blooming plants arriving as gifts. Rehydrate, acclimate in a cool room, ensure bright light away from drafts, and maintain 65 degrees or Iarger. Water deeply when leaves droop, trim and refresh soil in spring, then with careful rest periods and light, many will bloom again by Christmas. Plants like poinsettias require rest, partial shade, and careful pruning to encourage next year blooms. Indoor favorites such as African violets thrive with bottom watering and filtered light while leaf cuttings can yield new plants in months.
