Ike Arrives In Florida For Rest

President Eisenhower flew to Key West for a two week period of sunshine rest and work. He landed at 12 49 p m after a three hour thirty four minute flight from Washington D C with Rear Admiral Henderson state officials and local leaders greeting him at the airfield. A cavalcade led by the president in a Cadillac moved along Eisenhower drive near Truman avenue and Roosevelt boulevard as several hundred civilians waved.

Alameda Creek Levee Rebuild Appeal Seeks Army Help

Alameda County officials appealed to the U S Corps of Engineers to rebuild Alameda Creek levees after weekend floods. County spokesmen later briefed San Francisco city engineers and Northern California road commissioners on securing state and federal funds to reconstruct roads and bridges washed out. County officials, led by Supervisor Chester Stanley, met Centerville leaders to discuss flood problems. Army engineers began rebuilding San Lorenzo levees and sought rights of entry to private property. Crowle reported Alameda Creek flooding and the Gray gravel pit overflow, noting about 50 Alvarado families were displaced and flood-control work could have progressed sooner if a bond election had passed. Eight Thousand Dollar Robbery At Oakland Restaurant

A bandit robbed Oakland's Villa de la Paix of 8000 dollars early today. Owner Leo Koules, 22, of San Francisco, was beaten after refusing to reveal the safe combination.
