Educators Plan May Stop Local College Expansion
The coremission recommended halting expansion of campuses of the University of California in the region. Enrolment at 10 state colleges is 34,339, projected to 38,000 this fall, with 50,000 by 1960. Operating costs exceed 22 million for 1953-54. 3 million more may be sought for 1955-56. State funds for capital outlay of about 27.1 million are requested to expand facilities. Dr Ray E Simpson says space limits mean growth must be vertical. A student limitation plan will be presented to the State Board of Education January 3 to restrict enrollment to available facilities and instructors.

Attorney Explains to Village On Hog Farm Relocation
SAN LORENZO Attorney Edward Moore legal representative of Oakland Scavenger company will explain plans to relocate Beckman road hog ranch to a remote South county area to San Lorenzo Village residents tonight. The firm seeks a six month variance to comply with the county waste disposal ordinance as homeowners push to deny a permit. Over 3600 petitions urged denial two weeks ago due to 4000 hogs fed on raw garbage at Beckman road. The delay aims to allow a new site and farm rebuild to meet state rules banning sale of hogs fed on raw garbage. The farm has deteriorated beyond conformity with state or county rules, but Moore remains hopeful a new site can be found soon.
