James Stevenson stopped after a traffic crash where a car toppled into Alameda Creek on Niles Canyon Road. He waded through four feet of water to free Kenneth Wilgon, 18, of Livermore, who was pinned in the overturned vehicle and in critical condition at Washington Hospital with head injuries. A second motorist refused aid claiming risk to his shoes.
