Father seeks tougher juvenile laws after stabbing case
Fremont father Donald Cross vows to press for harsher juvenile penalties after his 16 year old son Stephen was stabbed and beaten by three youths. The assailants Gottloh Becerra Henry Guillen and Samuel Tignes, all juveniles, were sentenced to 12 weekends in Alameds County juvenile facilities for assault with a deadly weapon. Cross criticizes the light punishment and urges lawmakers to lower the age limit to 16 and allow victim's parents to attend court. Cross says he may form a citizens committee to push stricter juvenile laws and end repeat offenses. The incident occurred near Gra-Mar Apartments on Stevenson Boulevard after a Dec. 1 confrontation at John F. Kennedy High School.
