Senate backs job program for training and work
The Senate approved a 32 billion Manpower Training Act to create jobs and train workers. Passed by voice vote after House approval 340 to 3, the measure would extend public service jobs for two more years and earmark at least 25 million this year and 350 million starting July 1. President Nixon is expected to sign, noting the program has put about 300,000 people to work over the past two years.
