Union City selects architect for new community center
Union City council picked Oakland architect Andrew P. Anderson to design an 8,000 square foot center on Deolo Road after interviews with six firms. SAN LEANDRO the State Historical Landmark Commission reviews an invitation from the historical centennial steering committee to hold a March session to coincide with the city birthday and the proposed Root Park historical plaque dedication. Councilman William Suerstedt notes the committee chose March to mark the city’s 8th anniversary and the 198th anniversary of Spanish exploration. By March the Root Park marker should be ready, depicting an adobe hacienda entrance with a tiled shelter over a bench, reflecting the city’s Spanish heritage.
