Hayward Census Nears Completion About Midweek
Hayward’s special census, with about 50 percent of the city counted, is to be completed by midweek under Vernon Miller of the Los Angeles regional census office. Two dozen enumerators canvass the city while the final figure will be sent to Major John Haar and to Washington for certification within 30 days. The work has faced delays from recent raids, and enumerators explain census purpose to residents. Miller’s office is at the former Christian Science church building at B and First streets, LUcerne 2-2017.
