Extra patrols in Palma Cela to curb juvenile crime

Starting Friday a special police unit will patrol Palma Cela weekends to target drug related crime and youth behavior. The effort, backed by council and residents, will require overtime and adds 30 to 35 officers. Parents could face misdemeanor charges up to 500 dollars fine and six months in jail for failing to control their child. The patrol is described as an interim measure while long term plans are developed.

Hayward set to vote on low income housing plan

Hayward voters will decide next year on a proposed low income housing measure.
