Overcast night and morning give way to afternoon sunshine with continued cool conditions. Tonight's low expected from 41 to 44 degrees, gentle winds remain.
Overcast then fair in most areas through Wednesday with persistent fog near the Bay and coast. Temperatures show little change, with highs in the 60s to 70s in coastal areas and 40s to 50s inland. Valleys see morning fog and variable winds, with some locations around 60s inland and 70s near Salinas and Monterey.

Fresno Superior Court Judge Joseph Day denied a temporary halt to site preparation for the Fresno County courthouse. Ed ward Vagim of the Save the Courthouse Committee sought the order claiming damage to Courthouse Park. The judge ordered more information and scheduled a hearing, likely Thursday, on Vagim's request for a preliminary injunction.
Lynda Bird Johnson, escorted by Secret Service, returned to a 15 hour college load at the University of Texas with an agent in her dorm and attending classes in English Latin history government chemistry and Bible. The sophomore joined more than 20,000 peers as she resumed classes after protection since the Dallas assassination. She had been moved to the governor’s mansion in Austin and attended the Washington funeral with her family.
Monterey County approves a redistricting plan affecting Salinas area and Pacific Grove Carmel Valley with two supervisorial districts and revised boundaries. The State Supreme Court had ordered the board to redraw, setting elections for next June and detailing the supervisors and districts involved amid ongoing legal action.
Washington reports Mrs Kennedy emerged from seclusion as a Secret Service agent, Clinton J Hill, 31, received a presidential commendation for valor in Dallas during the Kennedy assassination aftermath. President Johnson praised Hill for leaping to shield the First Family, amid intensive security reassurances and ongoing protection duties.

The House approved a bill to provide temporary office space secretarial help and Secret Service protection for Mrs Jacqueline Kennedy and her children for six months. The measure authorizes up to $50 000 to cover expenses and gives funeral mailing privileges for the widow and her family.
