Posse Captures Third Kidnaper In Sacramento

Sacramento reports the capture of James Monroe Woosley 20 the third gunman in a sheriff and deputy kidnapping. Pressley Wins Jury Acquittal

In Oakland a Superior Court jury acquitted Lawrence Pressley of assault with a deadly weapon in the July 16 slaying of a Hayward man. The jury deliberated from yesterday afternoon until 2:30 this morning. The defendant, 24, was accused of stabbing James KR Burgin at Joseph Perez’s home on Pacific Street. This was Pressley’s second trial following a hung jury last October.

Leandro Man Dead in Crash

A San Leandro man, John J. Duffy, 16010 Gremercy Drive, was killed when his southbound car was struck by a westbound tractor trailer at Sixth and Market. Driver Esrold B. Wright, 40, of Richmond, was not cited. Duffy was pronounced dead at Highland Hospital. He is survived by his wife Marian and two children. Funeral services pending with Sento-Robinson Mortuary.
