City approves earthquake recorders for tall LA buildings
Los Angeles voters pass an ordinance requiring accelerographs in new and tall buildings. About three devices costing around 4000 dollars each will be placed in structures of 10 or more stories built after July 1, 1965, and in new six or more story, 60000+ square foot structures. John C. Manning notes about 23 structures yearly will be affected. Data will be analyzed by the U S Coast and Geodetic Survey to guide future regulation.
