Friendly Fire Hits U S Plane Over Korea

Captain John W Ingraham of Orlando California said a C 47 search plane was struck by friendly anti aircraft fire fifteen miles south of the truce zone over Korea. No injuries occurred and the plane returned to base. The incident followed the shooting down of an armed American trainer aircraft with two men aboard believed captured by the Reds. UN command protested to Communist forces calling the attack unprovoked and the gunners trigger happy.

Accident Fatal For Passenger Driver Harman in Pixley

Leonard Harman 41 of 616 Sixth Street Pixley died three hours after a 5:30 p.m. collision on the Irvington-Warm Springs highway near Landing Road. His southbound car reportedly passed a vehicle and crossed into the northbound lane, striking truck driven by William Glenn Briggs 45 of Oakland who was uninjured. Harman suffered back injuries fractured ribs and a fractured collarbone. His condition at Fairmont hospital was fair. Funeral services for Issak are pending Castro Valley mortuary. No citations issued pending investigation by highway patrol.

Unloaded Rifle Kills Burbank Man Before Daughter

Eugene Martin Grover a 45 year old Burbank resident was shot and killed last night as two youths unloading rifles from a car allegedly accidental. Grover and his 16 year old daughter Sandra were approaching their car when he collapsed from the gunshot wound. A 15 year old boy was handed a rifle telling his companion it was unloaded. the second youth fired the weapon striking Grover in the head.

Taipei reports President Chiang Kai-shek announced the resignation of Gen Sun Li Jen among ten military leaders after an admission of negligence in the case.
