Washington Waka House Armed Services subcommittee approved in principle a family allowance for dependents of low ranking servicemen. A draft bill will be prepared for a vote later today to extend quarters allowances to enlisted men in the bottom three grades who do not now receive them. The exact amount will be set at a noon meeting, with hopes to pass and report to the full committee tomorrow. Enlisted men with seven years service now get $07.50 monthly when not housed by government. the bill aims to extend this to lower-rated men. The panel also discussed allowing those with more than three dependents to resign, and noted mobilization plans do not require forcing service against will. The Senate committee has approved a proposal requiring all enlisted men with dependents to send home a portion of their pay.
