Drug Seeking Inmates Riot Injures 11 Guards at Walpole Hospital
In Walpole Massachusetts inmates rioted in a hospital wing after seizing guards as hostages for more narcotics. About 15 convicts attacked the staff, grabbing tranquilizers and other drugs then swarmed the line, injuring 11 guards and one wounded officer, John O Connor, who was stabbed in the back and listed in fair condition. Police and prison officials later subdued the insurrection.

Assessor Probes Further Feragen Work in Alameda County
Alameda County assessor C Hearn vowed to personally examine a grand jury report claiming about 1.7 million in assessments were improper during former assessor Donald Feragen’s administration. The 1965 grand jury indicted Feragen and two aides for assessment irregularities. A 20 year old Hayward woman Blanche Castro Cabanillas was arrested by San Leandro police on forged check charges.
