Hayward reports a wild Barracuda chase ending in a $2000 ransom for Mac Watson's 1970 Plymouth Barracuda. The theft from C&M Transmissions on Foothill Blvd led to a phone booth ransom drop and a reunion of the car, valued at over 20,000 with its high performance engine. Police have no solid leads.

Executive named administrator of San Lorenzo Village Homes
Charles F. Pearce, 40, will report Monday as administrator of the San Lorenzo Village Homes Association. Director Frank Peixoto announced the appointment as the board, after Turner’s January resignation, launched a nationwide search. Pearce, living in Castro Valley, will earn 14800 annually and holds degrees from Cal State Pomona and Cal State San Diego plus prior public service roles in Riverside Chula Vista Gonzales and Key West. The association, a quasi political private group, is funded by an annual 825 per home assessment.

Rifleman questioned near Ford motorcade route
