In Da Nang 2500 Buddhists protested against Premier Ky as they burn a decree promising free elections. A Socialist publisher in Saigon was shot and critically wounded en route to his office after criticizing anti government demonstrators. Viet Cong blamed for the violence.

Marines Rout Reds In Hand To Hand Fight
UPI reports Marines routed Communist attackers 375 miles north of Saigon in a pre dawn assault. At least 12 Reds killed, eight weapons captured, about 100 grenades found. 12 Communist bodies recovered. Marines suffered moderate casualties and many wounded returned to duty. Separately, a Communist raid on Tan Son Nhut airbase was repelled with air support. seven Americans and one Vietnamese killed. U.S. aircraft also destroyed 42 Communist trucks in Mu Gia pass, setting a new single day destruction record.

Driver Escapes Injury As Car Turns Turtle
Fremont driver Uvaldo Luna Sierra of 7048 George St. New ark escaped serious harm after his high speed Ford rolled end over end off the Fremont Boulevard ramp. He stood at the scene with one shoe on, later booked for investigation of being drunk in or about a vehicle. Two other Oakland area crashes left Elizabeth J. Huggins with head injuries in Fremont and Shirley Munoz with a fractured pelvis in Hayward, both listed in satisfactory condition.

Pasadena Mob Attacks Police With Rocks at Market
In Pasadena California a mob of 75 to 100 Black residents hurled rocks and bottles at officers during a market incident. Liner Michelangelo Reaches New York After Deadly Atlantic Wave
The 45,000 ton Italian liner Michelangelo arrived in New York with three dead and twelve injured after a colossal 69 foot wave slammed the ship during a fierce Atlantic storm. Passengers and crew described windows smashed and a 60 by 30 foot gash in the bow area as the ship battled the sea. The dead include John J.
