San Leandro Pacific High Jazz Band led by Marc Boyd plans a concert at Oakland Syuanon tomorrow night, then joins Chabot Junior College Jazz Band on Sunday. In May they travel to Visalia for the Visalia Jazz Festival AA division, perform at Synanon high school ranch, visit Disneyland, and return home. San Leandro based Beatrice Vivian Casey, granddaughter of Dr. Godfrey Vivian, writes a historical novel The Stranger Came to the Lumias published in 1973 by Vantage Press. The narrative links California’s early families with Mission San Antonio and Jo-Jon near Monterey, tracing the de Pasqua lineage to 1769 through World War II.
The piece covers a Walnut Creek dance with Lynn and Roy Hart, a Red Rooster performance, and an upcoming San Leandro Association annual art auction at the Plaza Art Gallery. She holds the DAR Award, theater involvement, Internet secretary duties, senior class board, Service Club secretary, and Physical Fitness Award. She graduates with honors and plans to attend California State University Hayward. Her hobbies include camping, drama, guitar, swimming, and sewing.
