Ex-Vet Chief Gen Hines Dies at 81 in Arlington
Washington AP Brig. Gen. Frank T. Hines retired longtime head of government veterans affairs died Sunday just before his 81st birthday. He suffered a stroke years ago but remained active until recent illness. Funeral set for Wednesday at Ft. Myer Chapel Arlington VA with interment in Arlington National Cemetery. He helped found and lead the Veterans Bureau later the Veterans Administration from 1923 to 1945.

Negro Revolutonary Assn Leader Hurls Brick at San Francisco Consulate
The self described president of the Negro Revolutionary Assn hurled bricks through a window of the British Consulate in San Francisco Sunday night and was charged with malicious mischief. Albert B. McPherson, 33, was caught by Patrolman Tim Cadigan who had watched the consulate since two bricks were thrown Saturday night. He said he wanted to hit a window he missed and cited opposition to British South Africa policy. Donald Stokes, consulate information officer, noted Britain’s limited control over South Africa and warned Johannesburg.

Baby Sitter Assaulted in Home Robbery Case
Police hunted a 22 year old Negro man who broke into a ST. CLAIR SHORES home early Sunday and assaulted a 14 year old white babysitter after tying her with neckties and threatening her with scissors. Clarence R. Page, 31, and his wife returned to find the suspect fleeing after robbing seven dollars and cutting telephone wires. The Page children, a 2 year old boy and a 3 year old girl, were unharmed.
