20th Area Traffic Fatality Reported in April
April records show the area’s 20th traffic death as Arthur Fred Megerle 50 of Oakland died in a collision on Highway 50 one half mile west of Rowell Arneh. His car rammed an embankment and struck an eastbound vehicle driven by George John Packenham 43 of Dublin Boulevard. Packenham and his daughter Carol Barbara 10 were injured with Packenham hospitalized then released. Driver Roy Franklin Sider 58 of Oakland lost control, skidded, and was ejected over the opposite embankment. his injuries were listed as slight along with his passenger Snyder. Early morning another crash injured Wil pur Joe Vanrookel 23 of Prospect Street when a tire blew and his car slammed into concrete dividers in front of Fairmont hospital, turning over.
