In Hayward and Castro Valley stores, meals run low as households skip meat and picket against cost. Co op Berkeley plans a 15 percent beef price cut while nationwide demand falls up to 80 percent as buyers seek cheaper fare and meal alternatives.
Hypnotist Michael Dean returns to Hayward High tonight at 7 30 PM to attempt to bolster performance claims. He previously aided boxer Ken Norton in believing he could not lose and will target Hayward High triple jumper Adrian Smith hoping to surpass 50 feet this season. Hayward trustees voted to retain four full time counselors at Sunset High School for another two years and authorized Supt. Ray Arvesan to develop modifications to the counseling system.
