Memory and Allies Delimit 1735 French Threats

Port News Deal's Ship Movements Reported

The notices from Deal on October 17 and 18 detail His Majesty's Ships Argyle Gibraltar and Port-Mahon preparing to sail with Greenwich and Guernsey remaining. Wind described as northwesterly. A later report notes Argyle Gibraltar and Port-Mahon having sailed, Greenwich and Guernsey still present. The Anne Phillips conveyed passengers to New England. Wind still northwest.

London News: Fleet Delay and Victualing Orders Reported

Portsmouth letters say the fleet and transports under Sir Chaloner Ogle planned to sail on Thursday but moored again at dusk due to the tide. Fresh orders dispatch large victualing stores for the Navy to Portsmouth, hoped not to be spent there. The Victory repaired and ordered to an expedition. Also reports of arrests, trials, shipments, and a daring naval defense near Jamaica with Captain Court of Bristol. The Lord Mayor and Aldermen visit the King to congratulate on his return and war aims for trade security.
