February 3 1735 the King as Sub-Governor thanks the proprietors for their honour and requests votes for directors at the upcoming election on Thursday the fifth only twenty two of the present directors can be chosen and any ballot listing more than twenty two names will be void and of no effect.
At the Fleece Tavern Cornhill on January 28 1735 a committee reported a list of gentlemen to stand for directors at the coming election. The list includes Hearhcore Burrell Wilks Lombe Marshall and many others with election set for February sch. The proprietors thanked the committee and authorized further meetings if needed.
A meeting of proprietors at Crown Tavern on February 28 1735 established a nine member committee to nominate directors for the South Sea Company. The committee proposed candidates including Joseph Beachcroft Joshua Baker Thomas Cowtflad and others for the forthcoming election the next day. A list of disqualified or invalid nominations is noted for committees with over 22 or under 30 names.
Yesterday arrived a mail from Holland to Rome noting the Pope pressed the Emperor over troop conduct in ecclesiastical leave. Imperial orders improved discipline. Reports say Ferrara Romagna troops exact large sums from communities. Rimini faces a 50,000 crown levy for Antiquities. Imperial troops quarter at Perouse. Rome sent 75,000 crowns for troop maintenance expenses.
PORT NEWS. Deal, Feb. 2. All outward-bound Ships sail'd from the Downs Yesterday, except four Dutch Ships for the East Indies. Came down last Night the Palopree, Crane, for Virginia, the Pretty Parfey, Whiting, for ditto. About forty Sail of Ships put back, and more in Sight. Arriv'd this Forenoon the Ruby, Saunders, from Zant. Wind S.

Report of the South Sea Company election held at Threadneedle Street with Bristow elected Sub-Governor over Wilks after a nine to six o’clock vote tally. Also notes a Sheriff’s officer Earle stabbed, a thief jailed, a bankrupted merchant Baller, and theatre performances with High Water at London Bridge after 4 PM.
Market notes show South Sea Block at 95 1 qr with 18th opening. South 8a Annuities quoted 10g 3 qrs to 7 Fths. New South Sea Annuities at 108 5 8chs. Bank price 147 1 half. New Bank Circulation at 6. Prem. and other items include Exchange 102 and various bonds and three percent prices. Admiralty and colonial items noted with minor variations in fringing figures.
