Naples November 22 news states officers of the Swiss Regiments in the King's Service have received orders to dismiss none of the soldiers who claim their term has expired and wish to return home but to enroll them anew instead.
Letters from Derry report a cathedral fire narrowly saved by quick discovery. In Dublin, John Johnson and accomplices seized four men at Taloot Inn in Thomas Street, naming Toby Butler and others, caught with two loaded blunderbusses, powder, and balls, with threats of shooting and alliance vows.

A notice from Botolph without Bishopseate dated Dec 16 1740 announces a contract with Baker to carry away dirt and soil in the Ward of Bishopseate Wirsont for one year starting Christmas. Proposals must be written and delivered to Mr Deputy Holiaid on or before December 24.
