Fray at Cork over ship siege. robber slain by pursuers

Cork report recalls the Charles and Molly arriving from New York with wheat and flour. Rioters seized the vessel, the owner refused a beneath-market offer, and the mob was dispersed with assistance from the Collector. In Kilkenny County, Joseph Palmer and James Boland pursued Carlos Tate a proclaimed robber. in a confrontation Tate was shot after refusing surrender.

Spanish Prisoners Brought to Safe Quarters in Bristol

One day this week the Spanish prisoners aboard the Neutral Dutch Ship Vernon Privateer were moved to a loft in Capt Saunders’s Guinea Street house in Bristol. They, with countrymen confined in Bridewell, are well treated and regularly dieted by magistrates order. Captives bless the humane treatment as Britain’s enemies. A report claimed the prize might be condemned at upwards of 15200 pounds.
