Letter from the Traffords Arriving Liverpool From Jamaica

A fragmentary London note describes the Traffords arriving in Liverpool from Jamaica after a storm. The ship left Jamaica January 6 with 42 sail for England and North America under Norwich and six other men of war. They encountered French ships near the Windward Passage, chased by chasers, and later left the fleet to Foch of February. A later report mentions Captain Ward of the Traffords and an engagement near Cape Fabian with the Oxford and others, lasting three hours and resulting in heavy damage to several ships.
