Big Lift Airlift Could Cut European Troop Needs
Washington reports UPI that the Army Air Force Exercise Big Lift will fly 16 000 troops to Germany next month. The plan could allow bringing home two divisions to save up to 300 million annually in U S gold outflow. Defense Secretary McNamara says airlift capacity has doubled since 1961 and may double again in years ahead. The exercise involves 2nd Armored Division and 1 500 supporting ground forces and 1 500 airmen.

Bova's Fate To Be Aired At Hearing
In Pottsville Pennsylvania UPI reports Schuylkill County President Judge James J Curran appointed himself chancellor and set October 3 for a hearing on the fate of Louis Bova who has been trapped since August 13 in a mine near Sheppton. The judge will decide if recovery operations should continue and determine a death date for Bova as two other miners were rescued from the independent Fellin mine where David Fellin co operates.
