Visiting privileges at Armstrong County Jail were suspended today after an attempted break from confinement. Sheriff Thomas C. Hutchison said prisoners are confined to cells until those involved are identified, noting the incident as not very important. Some prisoners reportedly moved into the exercise pen outside the building.
Three judge Federal court in Philadelphia hear arguments on a suit by five taxpayers filed in Scranton alleging Pennsylvania reapportionment laws violate equal protection and constitutional provisions. Area families on surplus food rolls in Armstrong County will undergo eligibility recertification in January and February under federal and state rules. An automobile collided with a school bus west of Kittanning before 8 a.m. No injuries were found by state police. The bus halted for a stop sign at old and new Routes 422, crossing to enter Northern Avenue in West Kittanning. The car driven by William Kostellc of Apollo collided with the bus front and right front. The Clepper Bros. Co. bus, operated by Arnold D. Smith, was taking students to Kittanning junior and senior high schools along Route 128 in North Buffalo Township. Estimated damage to each vehicle was about 180 dollars. several bus riders were shaken up.
East Brady area developers form East Brady Manufacturing Co to take over the former H. K. Daman site at High and 6th Streets. Six buildings and three acres are involved with Brady's Bend operations separate. Capital stock of 60000 to be sold. 250000 working capital. half subscriptions pledged. Francis A. Hile named plant manager to repair remodel and equip Building No 1. Plant activation expected at the earliest date.
Harrisburg report states the Public School Building Authority re elected all officers including Gov. William W. Scranton as president. New terms also chosen for Senate President Pro Tempore M Harvey Taylor House Speaker W Stuart Helm Auditor General Thomas Minehart State Treasurer Grace Sloan treasurer and Secretary Richard Hornbeck secretary.
James W. White of Kittanning former maintenance superintendent of the Department of Highways in Armstrong County is named chairman of the Pennsylvania State Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Committee with Edison Osborne Peach Bot tom and William Baumgartner added as members. They replace Howard Porter James Federick and Charles Long who resigned. White is a Penn State Agriculture Economics graduate and Navy veteran. He operates a 230 acre dairy farm with his father and is a member of several veterans and farm groups. ASC committees oversee allotments marketing quotas price support and related farm programs.
Amid heavy snowfalls of 8 to 34 inches state residents continue dig-outs as a west and southwest air flow brings fair weather today. Temperatures moderate after a week of extreme winter blasts across Pennsylvania.

Agriculture agent John Campbell says exact crop loss estimates are impossible though losses will run into the millimne range. He cites 60 to 75 percent damage to beans and 60 to 70 percent for squash, with 40 to 60 percent for cucumbers and 60 to 65 percent for beets. Some groves show leaf and fruit damage but no trunk damage in the area.
