Harrig Sells Diamond Ring Case Settled in Hearing

The state’s case against Charles Harrie for theft of a $200 diamond ring from Grace McGinnis began in Justice Nichols court but continued until next Tuesday due to missing witnesses. C. E. Thompson’s charge for receiving stolen property was dismissed at prosecution’s request. Harris acted as his own counsel, testified lightly, and his partner allegedly planned to pay him. Grace McGinnis, a former porter, reported the ring missing after a guest’s jewelry had been stored in her bureau. Police notes and a barroom witness recounted an alleged $10 sale, a tissue-wrapped stone, and a dubious test for genuineness.
