Drunken Divide Shootout Leaves Two Men Hurt
Louis Holstein lies at St. Pauls hospital seriously wounded after a drunken quarrel at Divide. Henry Davis, who fired the shots, is jailed at the county jail. Davis telegraphed for a physician, and Deputy Sheriff ONeill and Dr Sheeran responded. Both men, once friends, had been working on a ranch and reportedly argued after heavy drinking. Davis recalls little. Holstein memory is clearer, with two shots fired, one through Holsteins hat and another left of the spine. The bullet’s location is to be X-rayed to locate it.
