In Corning, N Y the Roosevelt train party addresses a crowd amid Elmira mob violence claims. Governor cites law and order and condemns mob tactics while Debs urges reform messages and critiques capital and liberty themes.
Governor Roosevelt condemned Mr. Croker’s call for democratic voters to gather at polling places on election night and intervene if Bryan leads in returns. He warned such riotous action would make Croker an accessory before the fact and urged all to obey the law.
In Chicago on October 31 Senator Hanna was guest of honor at the first annual dinner of the British American republican league at the Victoria Hotel. About 150 Americans of British birth rose and sang He's a jolly good fellow with cheers after his name was announced. He gave a brief address expressing confidence the association's work would extend beyond itself.
Eugene V. Debs spoke at Cooper Union in New York on October 30 as the Social Democratic candidate for president. He attacked coal mine owners in the Pocahontas region for fixing wages and urged parties to state how they will rescue wage earners amid the Pennsylvania strike.
Ex President Cleveland, in Princeton New Jersey, calls a Philadelphia Times interview report a total lie with no truth. He says he never spoke as described and has telegraphed the paper to deny the tale. The passage quotes Cleveland allegedly endorsing Bryan and commenting on Bryan as an orator and campaigner.
The Roosevelt special arrives in Albion after a sunny dawn from Rochester with a stop at Brockport where the governor cites Mr. Bryan tying independence rhetoric to the Philippines. Nebraska was acquired by the United States in the eventful era.

London reports Pretoria dispatch that General Botha rejected surrender terms after Paget’s flag of truce was presented. Steyn remains irreconcilable and refuses to meet the bearer, signaling a continued Boer war without peace prospects.

Frankfort October 31 in the court of appeals the judgment of the lower court on the contests over the minor state offices was affirmed establishing the titles of the democratic incumbents. The plan, tied to 200000 per representative, would yield a net gain of ten seats.
