Britain Keeps Coastline as Venezuela Gains Key River Valleys
A Washington dispatch says the Paris tribunal of arbitration split the far eastern and western lines between Venezuela and Great Britain. Britain retains the coast to the mouth of the Orinoco, while Venezuela holds the Oriana river mouth and gold-rich Yuruari basin and tributaries. The decision also confirms Venezuela’s control of the Cuyuni river area and the River Essequibo influence, with Britain conceding in parts of the boundary beyond the main Orinoco mouth.
