Ten Percent Raise No Good for Coal Strike Leaders

Hazelton Pa Oct 1 president Mitch says strike is practically complete and no work will resume without a convention representing every colliery in the anthracite field. He notes Panther Creek valley plans to suspend operations and says a 20,000 strong labor demonstration will march in Wilkesbarre the next day. Most mines are working though Markle works employ about 2,500 men. Sheriff Harvey says Freeland men intend to pause at Markle No 1 Jeddo mine. John Markle joins strikers and urges them toward a schoolhouse near No 6 collieries.
