After days of heavy rain a historic flood swept the Monongahela and Allegheny valleys. Three deaths are reported Frederick Kopprhr aged 65 died removing goods in Pittsburg. Joseph Davis and Joseph Flocker mill workers drowned after a skiff capsized. Floodwaters forced plant closures and left hundreds homeless as rail bridge at Neville Island washed away.
