Raiders Trial in El Paso Jury Drawn for 6 Defendants

In El Paso on November 12 a special venire of 100 men was summoned to select a jury to try six African Americans charged with raiding the police station last winter and killing Policeman Newton Stuart. The incident drew national attention as the group seized guns and axes at Fort Bliss and on reaching the city jail fired on officers, killing Stuart. The alleged leader, Ser. John Kipper, has been found guilty of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment.

San Francisco police arrest Francis Marwell alias Bonaguid Belmonto and Raymond Brady wanted in Chicago for robbery. He is jailed awaiting an officer to return him to Chicago. Indicted for robbing Patrick Flood on May 4 last.
