Wheaton Expedition Lands at San Fabian in Philippines
Manila dispatches describe General Wheaton's force of 2700 landing at San Fabian after artillery bombardment by the Bennington Helena Manila Callao and Samar. Insurgents opened fire but were driven back as troops formed and charged. Siege conditions delayed landings, with some casualties, and the cavalry moved toward Dagupan while naval support coordinated. Otis reports confirm a successful landing and enemy retreat in the Dagupan direction.
