Whaling Bark Returns to San Francisco

The whaling bark Charles W. Morgan arrived from the Okhotsk islands with 1400 barrels of sperm oil 2600 barrels of bone and 60 pounds of ambergris. Ambergris sent to owners J and W Wing of New Bedford. Morgan harvested 48 sperm whales and two right whales. A boat was wrecked but all hands were saved. Caledonia reported with 400 barrels of whale oil 10 barrels of sperm oil and 6000 pounds of bone. One crewman Martin Cosgrove from the Caledonia reportedly drowned after a whale strike.
