A Manila dispatch reports Aguinaldo will accept terms offered by the American Philippine commission and has begun sending representatives from San Isidro to Manila. The decision came at a conference the day before Lawton attacked, and the combat occurred after the peace decision. Final peace is believed assured.

Gen Kirkland Stricken By Paralysis In New York

Gen W W Kirkland 62 was stricken with paralysis in a New York restaurant last Sunday morning and quickly moved to a private hospital. Actress Mise Tyler, his daughter, was at Wild Goose Farm near Shepherdstown.

General Kirkland Summoned to Deathbed Return

Miss Tyler learned in Shepherdstown that her father General Kirkland, once a New York post office division superintendent, is near death after a long civil war career. Paralyzed on his right side and unable to speak, he may linger months. Kirkland, a North Carolinian and West Point graduate who served in Lee's army at Gettysburg, now rests with his daughter and KR D. McLean in Shepherdstown.

West Presbyterian church sustains pastor amid board bid to oust

New York May 18 The West Presbyterian congregation voted to sustain Rev Dr Anthony M Evans after the board of directors led by Russell Sage tried to remove him over his pastorate. Trustees resigned previously when Evans’ resignation was rejected. Ex trustees were defeated in a close election by 20 votes. The Phillips and Madison Avenue churches plan a union. Madison Avenue approved May 10 and Phillips gave final consent last night. The Madison Avenue church will be sold for about 500 900, with 200 000 to rebuild Phillips and 300 000 to endow maintenance and expand the Phillips east side mission. Fighting for in San Francisco May 18 The Pacific Quasi Hardware robbers clash with midwest factions over Pacific coast trade at a Carmelest meeting in St Paul May 23. Delegates from Pacific Coast Hardware and Metal association plus Portland Seattle Tacoma Spokane seek to change railroad schedules dated May 1. The Bow Wah Ton Chinese slave dealers association plans to hire a Dightrnder association to remove three men, offering rewards of 1000 for Ong Pore and 500 each for Chin Jim and Chin Suey for their alleged roles in forming a vigilance group against Chinatown taquitice. The slave dealers control many dens and thousands of chattels.

Boarchers Beaten By Indignant Crowd In Chicago

Three bicycle riders faced deadly danger last night at Oak and Orleans streets as an angry mob beat them after a collision with Mrs. J. Wisman, who may die. A rescuer saved one rider while the other two fled on their wheels amid the fracas. George Bennett confessed to striking Mrs. Wisman and said the collision was unavoidable.

Educating the Young Cubans and Porto Ricans in New York

New York on May 18 reports more than 50 young Cubans and Porto Ricans brought to the entry for education by Cuban organizations under Maj. Gen. Joseph Wheeler. The association, led by Gilbert A. Warsrow, says over 200 institutions support free tuition and scholarships, with plans for at least 1,000 students by November 1. Applicants must be of good character. sponsors will cover incidental expenses, and limited scholarships remain for those supported by family or donors. Court notes grant habeas relief for Rudolf Waldorf

The habeas corpus case ended after 5 pm with Judge Clancy granting one writ and ordering Waldorf's discharge. Previously he was fined 300 dollars for selling liquor without a license and sentenced to 150 days in jail. The discharge rested on a faulty complaint.
