After three successful evenings the final County Fair performance closed last night. Nell Burgess departs to pursue other stages while the company and Manager Button report strong takings. A live race scene on stage used three treadmills and wire-driven horses, with darkness and a lighting cue heightening the effect before a screened reveal. Tonight the theater goes dark and Al Field’s minstrels begin their engagement, with a street pageant earlier in the afternoon.

Miles Finlen Replies in Minnie Healey Lease Case
Miles Finlen files a reply to the answer to the counter claim by FA Heinze Arthur P Heinze and Mon hina Ore Purchasing in the suit over the Minnie Healey lease. He denies the 1807 claim that his control was seized and contests termination of leases. He concedes his duties under the leases but argues they were not conditions. He says he did not pay a $4,000 mortgage on the Devlins and Reilly interests and was not required to. He denies notifying the Berlins and Reilly on November 1, 1898 of ceasing work, and says he did not offer to sell his interests for $54,000. He asserts he did not turn the property over, though the leases and agreements were transferred, and claims the defendants hold the title with his prior ownership and related rights.
