State Senator Jerry Connolly visits Granite county where the Granite Bimetallic company employs about 350 men. Dr Mussigbrod reports a rich ore body on the Red Cloud with around $50,000 of ore in sight and more below. Connolly notes years of effort and a past slump, praising renewed vitality and risk in mining ventures.

Fred W. Cowan of Missoula, now in Boston, predicts a bright future for mines Amalgamated is absorbing. He contends the Anaconda mine is not exhausted and its labetdir production is yet to come. Montana ore reserves and smelting capacity are rising, threatening Anaconda’s dominance amid legal challenges to several claims.
The Washoe mining properties owned by the Amalgamated company adjoin the Anaconda and are described as a wonder of the Butte camp. Though not producers yet, they are under development on a vast scale. A plan to build large smelters to handle Washoe ore is under consideration amid reports of capitalization rising from $5,000,000 to $20,000,000. The original Butte mining district spans about five square miles with major producers located there.
At a stockholders meeting of A. M. Esler Mining and Concentrating company directors were chosen A. M. Esler F. W. Rossberg Shitwood Wheaton GB Warnken John Schornborn W. H. Johnson W. M. Cordkrill. A. M. Ester was elected president F. W. Rossberg vice president Walter Shobe secretary and treasurer. The Helena Independent notes a 100 ton daily concentrating mill to be erected in Swift Current mining district Teton county under a contract to process 400000 tons of copper ore at 6 per ton.
Howard Casey, charged with first degree assault on William Sullivan, was arraigned in Justice Nichols' court and will have a preliminary hearing at 9 am Monday. He claims innocence and says he was in Craig's saloon on South Main street and can name witnesses including Jack Hoy and Paddy O'Donnell to prove his alibi. Casey's mother hired John Wotter to defend him.
Judge Knowles adjourned court to Monday as hearings resume in the Volusa Parrot Mining Co versus Anaconda Mining Co case. Witnesses include W H Sheerin the deputy clerk and recorder and Michael A Hickey the locator who testified October 19, 1875. The defense challenged the location notice as defective while plaintiffs argued the issue is pivotal to the case. Clarence Page and August Christian testified on maps plots and surveys.

In a district court case John Noyes and others sue A G Terrell claiming unlawful entry on their placer claim No 575 to locate a quartz claim. Plaintiffs say Terrell began sinking a shaft on January 1 and continues trespassing damaging their U S patent by 8500, seeking injunction and damages.
