Financial and Commercial Report of the New York Stock Exchange
The opening demand for stocks was large and prices rose, led by rail and steel groups with gains of one to two points. After an early surge, prices fell sharply as selling intensified, with Brooklyn Transit and several rail stocks showing notable moves. By late morning the market slumped below prior close though some steel and railroad issues recovered modestly, while bonds remained irregular.
